This is Weezer. She is about 17 years old. She was found at a factory begging for food. She was named after Weezer in the little rascals. At the time, we had too many cats and didn't want to bring another one home. Weezer was so persistent and loving, that she eventually won us over. When I first got her, I thought she was gray. Poor thing, what a constant battle she was waging, trying to keep her white fur clean.
Two years ago I brought home another stray that attacked Weezer. She has never been the same since. The cat didn't really do any damage physically to her, but emotionally she was devastated. Before, Weezer was friendly with all the cats, now she was terrified of them. She went from a playful, gregarious cat to a timid, fearful one. It was so sad to see her so frightened of her housemates that she had known most of her life, especially Buzzy, her boyfriend (don't worry, all my cats are spayed/neutered). We tried different things to get her over her fear, but nothing worked. It was decided that she would move upstairs with Fearless since no one is afraid of her.
Two years later, Weezer has gotten over some of her fear, but not most of it. Occasionally, she'll act interested in going downstairs to be with the other cats, but she never has. Strangely, all the cats have come to visit her upstairs, except Buzzy. She is still very timid and we have to watch the other cats to make sure they aren't being aggressive with her in any way. She recently has started playing chasing games with Ferdi. First she chases him, then he chases her. This goes on for a while and then suddenly she becomes scared. Ferdi always stops at this point.
When Fearless became ill and had to have a diet change, Weezer did too since they shared food before. Weezer had never shown any interest in food - just something she had to have. Well, when Fearless started getting cans, then of course Weezer had to get canned food too. Weezer now loves to eat and comes running. It is wonderful to see her enjoying her food and playing once again. I even sometimes see her playing with Fearless's catnip pillow.
With the addition of Wee Willy, Weezer has found a soul mate. Weezer always thought she was still a kitten and now she gets to act like one!
04/01 Weezer has begun to go downstairs again. She is like her old self!
10/01 Weezer was diagnosed with cancer. She had to have her entire internal ear canal removed on her right side. Now her ear is sewn shut on that side. She is doing well trying to deal with her loss of hearing on that side. Her last picture shows her after surgery.
06/02 Weezer stays upstairs all the time and the other cats except Pooka and Ferdi are kept out. She is scared of Sammy. She has never gotten over the deafness. She is much more wary. She is enjoying life, running around, playing, and purring though upstairs where she knows she is safe.
03/04 Weezer is acting like a kitten. She runs around playing with Sweetie Pie and Minifur. Sometimes she plays by herself. You can really tell she loves her life!!
