There are a lot of different forms of abuse. Mac was rescued from a shelter at about 3 years of age. His previous owners had turned him in to them. They said they had suddenly become allergic to him. This is the number one excuse people give when taking cats to a shelter. Imagine living with someone for that long and then being taken to a loud, crowded place and left. Don't you know he kept waiting for his humans to come and rescue him. To take him back to his quiet home. They never did.
Fortunately, someone cared enough to adopt this older cat. Normally older cats do not have a good chance of being adopted. Mac wasn't real outgoing and that made his chances even lower.
Mac has a lot of emotional issues. He must be treated gently, with a lot of reassurance. He is his own man!
Mac sitting in his own way!!
Mac likes to be by himself, mostly!
He normally sleeps by himself.
In fact, Mac likes to think he is an only cat!
Solitude is good!
Recently Mac ran out of the house. A neighbor's dog attacked him. Here he is after a several day stay at the vet.
You can see the emotional damage done to him.
Here he is commiserating with some of his housemates.
In this picture, he looks reassured to be with his old friends. Even if he did ignore them before.
Here he is looking like Mac!
I know with the loving care of his Mommy, he will overcome this emotional & physical attack to once again be the sweet, cute boy he was.
And here he is a couple of weeks after the attack!! I knew his Mommie would be able to help him over this. He is playing with catnip toys his Mother made for him!!
