My name is Buzzy. I'm named Buzzy because I don't purr, I buzz. I'm about 15 years old. Buzzy was found at a factory, when he was a young adult, ailing with a very infected foot that was huge. He allowed himself to be caught and was very sweet while the vet fixed his foot. He is the alpha male, although Wee Willy is in training to be the new alpha male. They are the best of friends.
For years, Buzzy wouldn't really have anything to do with humans. About 1999 he decided to be the biggest love bug known to mankind. He hasn't quite figured out that we like it best when he keeps his claws in, though. If he wants to climb into your lap, he does, using his claws to pull himself up. He doesn't seem to understand why we don't like that or when he is trying to get our attention by slapping us with his paw with all claws out. Hopefully, he'll learn to keep them in eventually. His favorite trick is to sprawl out behind you when you're in the kitchen and then have a fit if you step on him. His other favorite trick is to hide under the couch cover and then attack your bare feet when you walk by. I don't mean playfully either. He has claws out and always draws blood. He looks so shocked when you don't reward him with petting. He's only playing after all.
We are so glad that Buzzy has, after all these years, figured out that humans are for loving. He has a heart of gold and rules the roost like any good ruler, with love, compassion, and an eye for those that can't take care of themselves.
10/29/00 Buzzy has been diagnosed with hyperthyroid and kidney problems. Through bloodwork, his disease was detected fairly early on. He is still being regulated to try and get him back to optimal health. So far all testing has come out as good as could be hoped for. Buzzy continues to be a very sweet lovable guy.
04/01 Buzzy has gone downhill very quickly. He is consulting with a holistic vet to try and ensure he's given every chance at a good quality of life.
06/02 Buzzy is still enjoying life, although at a much slower pace.
